Wetlands Bird Dog Training These collars have more range than pet trainers but less than hound trainers and upland trainers. Cold hands and difficult terrain often lead to dropped transmitters, so a waterproof transmitter is very beneficial.
Upland Bird Dog Training need more range than waterfowl collars but less than hound trainers. Whether the transmitter needs to be waterproof or not is dictated by the terrain in which you train and hunt. Beepers are very useful for keeping track of pointers.
Hound Training Systems You will find them at the high end for both distance and dollars. Hounds run very far afield (needing a mile range or better). The Science of Unleashed
Guidance levels are paired in intensity and rhythm: Each level contains one momentary distraction vibration paired with a continuous vibration rhythm suitable to that level. The momentary vibration mode acts as a distraction to gain the dog's attention away from his current pursuit. The continuous (more vigorous) vibration mode acts as a guidance system, motivating the dog to perform the right behavior in order to "escape the aggravation" of the rhythmic vibration on his neck (this is called "pressure").
Levels are adjusted according to your dog's temperament and excitement level at the time of use. 15 levels give great flexibility. Low levels for yard work and early training.
